Morie A. Gertz, M.D.
Dr. Gertz graduated from Northwestern University with highest distinction and went on to Loyola Medical School where he received his medical degree cum laude. He did a three year medical residency at Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital in Chicago and was voted resident of the year for two years. He then went on to training in hematology and oncology at Mayo Clinic before doing research at the Thorndike Laboratory at Boston City Hospital.
He was advanced to Professor of Medicine in recognition of his contributions to the understanding of multiple myeloma, amyloidosis and Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia. He was Chair of the Division of Hematology from 1997 through 2005 and currently is on the Board of Governors of Mayo Clinic Rochester. He has served as President of the Mayo Rochester Staff and he was awarded the Mayo Distinguished Clinician Award for his contributions to patient care.
